Work where the trip meets the software

We don't keep job ads up for months. We keep standing invitations open for the disciplines we always need, and we read every note. If your work lives somewhere between a trailhead and a data pipeline, write to welcome@novadventure.com.

Pages from an open trailhead register box turn into birds flying toward distant mountains.
Field noteEvery good hire starts as a name in the trail register: someone curious enough to sign in.

What it's like

What working here is like

Small crews, real operations

You'll work on live deployments with clients who run real trips. Your work reaches travelers, and you'll hear about it when it does.

Writing over meetings

Decisions, designs and incident reviews are written down. Meetings exist to decide things, and they end when that's done.

A pace we'd route for

We build software around energy budgets for travelers. We try to run the company the same way: steady effort, real rest, no heroics as a habit.

Operators have a vote

People from travel operations sit on every crew, and engineers listen to them. If you've worked a reservations desk, that experience counts here.

Rooted in Santa Fe

Our home is Santa Fe, New Mexico. For some disciplines we consider remote work within North American time zones, with travel for field days and planning weeks.

Responsible by default

You're expected to push back on features that misuse traveler data or remove a person from a decision that needs one, and you'll be backed when you do.

Field days

Field days are part of the job

Every crew spends time where the trip actually happens before it trusts a number. Engineers ride the shuttle. Designers sit at a lodge front desk during check-in rush. Data engineers walk a route with a guide and learn why the scenic viewpoint is miserable in wind. Field days are scheduled, counted as work, and written up for everyone.

  • Paired days with travel-operations colleagues, often in northern New Mexico and sometimes wherever a client operates.
  • A short write-up afterward: what we saw, what surprised us, and what we'll change.
  • Boots, compass, laptop, in roughly that order.
A workshop table holding a compass, trail boots, rope, a circuit board and a field notebook.
Field noteField days are mandatory here. Software for trips gets better when its builders walk the trail.

How we hire

Five steps, no puzzles

The process usually takes a few weeks. We'll tell you where you stand at every step.

  1. 01

    Write to us

Email welcome@novadventure.com with your discipline in the subject line. Tell us what you've built or run, link to work you're proud of, and name one thing in travel you'd fix first. A page is plenty.

  2. 02

    A first conversation

    About 45 minutes

A real conversation about your work and ours. We cover how we think about compensation early, so neither side wastes time.

  3. 03

    A working session

    Half a day or less

We work through a real, anonymized problem together: a messy supplier file, a re-plan that went wrong, a Concierge transcript. No brain-teasers and no multi-day take-home projects.

  4. 04

    Meet the crew

You meet the people you'd work with most, including someone from travel operations. Ask them anything.

  5. 05

    A clear answer

We aim to give you a decision within a week of your last conversation, either way, and an offer in writing if it's a yes.

Benefits philosophy

How we think about pay and benefits

We'd rather explain our philosophy than list perks that change with every hire. Specifics depend on the role and where you live, and they're set out in writing in any offer we make. What doesn't change is the intent behind them.

  • Pay is discussed in the first conversation, not the last.
  • Time off is meant to be taken, and leads go first.
  • Field days, learning and writing count as work, not extras.
  • You get the equipment you need to do the job well.

Questions

Questions about working here

Do I need travel-industry experience?

Not for every discipline. For engineering and design, curiosity about how trips really run matters more than a travel résumé. For travel operations, hands-on experience is the whole point.

Can I write to you about more than one discipline?

Yes. Tell us which fits best and why. Some of the most useful people we know sit between two disciplines.

Do you work with contractors or freelancers?

Occasionally, for specific engagements. Write to us the same way and say that's what you're looking for.

What happens to my note if there's no opening?

We reply, keep it on file, and get back in touch if a seat opens in your discipline. If you'd rather we delete it, say so and we will. Our privacy policy explains how we handle applications.
